Mob torches police station in Assam's Nagaon district following ‘custodial death’

Three people had been arrested so far. A senior police official said that the deceased was found in drunken condition in the night and police brought him to the station from from the road.

Three people had been arrested so far. A senior police official said that the deceased was found in drunken condition in the night and police brought him to the station from from the road.

Mob alleged that police killed the person who was a fish seller. Police had demanded Rs 10,000 and a duck.


His family has alleged that when they were not able to meet the demand he was assaulted in custody. Family members said when they gone to police station to meet him, police said that he was unwell and admitted to hospital. The family members in hospital came to know that he was dead.

Following this irate mob went to police station with dead body.
