Mumbai: Woman beaten by MNS workers in Mumbadevi for objecting to party banner
Three workers of the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena have been arrested in connection with assault after a video of them beating up a female shop owner went viral on Thursday.

The incident took place in Kamathipura after the lady objected to the MNS representatives putting up a hoarding in front of her shop. They proceeded to beat her up in full view of the public; a video shows Vinod Argile - a local office-bearer- and two other party workers slapping, pushing and abusing the middle-aged woman.

An FIR was registered under IPC sections 323 (assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (act intending to outrage modesty of woman) at Nagpada police station after the video made rounds of the internet.

"It is a very unfortunate and condemnable incident. Party chief Raj Thackeray should clarify his stand on the incident," said NCP chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase.
