Mizoram’s Covid-19 tally stands at 17,605 of which 4,132 are active.
Mizoram on Monday witnessed the highest single day spike of COVID-19 cases as 528 inmates of an Orphanage Home-cum-Rehabilitation Centre in Mizoram tested positive.

The Health and Family Welfare Department has initiated mass screening out of 1500 inmates’ samples of 989 samples were tested and 528 were tested positive.

A senior official who does not want to be named told ET, “Testing of 511 inmates are in progress.”


Chief minister Zoramthanga is personally monitoring the situation. He said that a medical team led by senior doctors was sent to the Orphanage Home. “We have taken precautionary and other measures to take care of the inmates' of Orphanage Home.”

Around 83 people have died in Mizoram due to the Covid-19.
