Mizoram stone quarry collapse: 15 feared trapped, rescue operation underway

According to media reports, 15 workers have been trapped under the quarry. The workers had returned from their lunch break when the incident took place​ at the ABCI Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.

Several labourers are feared trapped after a stone quarry collapsed in Mizoram on Monday.

According to media reports, 15 workers have been trapped under the quarry.

The workers had returned from their lunch break when the incident took place at the ABCI Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd.


Rescue operations are underway at the location. Volunteers from Leite village reached the spot for a rescue operation.

“Volunteers from Leite village and Hnahthial town immediately reached the spot for a rescue operation and it is still underway. Government has sent more rescue teams to the site. SDRF, BSF and Assam Rifles have been called to assist in the search and rescue operation,” said an official.

The state government has sent more rescue teams to the site, media reports said citing the government sources.
