Mizoram is registering solid economic growth and has seen notable expansion across its sectors and has attracted an investment in the new projects between 2021-22 and 2024-25 of Rs 16720 crore, according to the just released study on “Investment, Growth & Development in Progressive Mizoram”.

The study was conducted by the MSME Export Promotion Council and was released by its chairman D S Rawat. The study says, in 2021-22, the state attracted an investment of Rs.2587 crore, in 2022-23 of Rs.126 crore, in 2023-24 of Rs.41 crore and in 2024-25 of Rs.1397 crore. These data have been available from the Centre for Monitoring of Indian Economy (CMIE). It is expected that these projects have generated direct employment opportunities for 30-35,000 people and 20,000 indirect jobs.

While projects worth Rs.1918 crore were completed between 2021-22 and 2024-25, projects under various stages of implementation are of Rs.1,21,385 crore. Completion of these projects will generate jobs for over 50,000 people. The services sector has been a significant contributor to the extent of 45-46 per cent of the gross state value added (GSVA).

Rawat said the industry sector also witnessed improvement and its GSVA share rose from 25% to 34%, while primary sector; agriculture and aligned sector declined from 25% to about 20%. The state’s economy is growing consistently ranging from 13-15%.

The MSME sector in the state is poised for a significant upward trajectory. With focused government support, expanded infrastructure, integration of digital financial tools, and sector specific value addition, MSMEs are becoming pivotal in driving inclusive economic growth.

The study has emphasized the need for connecting the MSME sector with global marketing companies, research & development centres, and exchange of delegations with other countries for developing economic relationships.
