Missing youth from Arunachal Pradesh found in China, confirms PLA

People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China has confirmed that it has found a missing Indian boy from Arunachal Pradesh in their territory.

Army sources said that due procedure is followed. PRO Defence, Tezpur Lt Col Harshvardhan Pandey told ET, “PLA has confirmed locating a boy and due procedure is being followed.”

It was suspected that the 17-year old boy from Arunachal Pradesh boy was abducted by Chinese PLA.


On January 20, Defence PRO Tezpur had tweeted: “17 yr old youth Miram Tarom of Zido, Arunachal Pradesh was reportedly captured by PLA across the LAC. On receipt of info, Indian Army imdtly contacted PLA through a hotline. Assistance from PLA has been sought to locate and return him as per protocol.”

Arunachal Pradesh BJP MP Tapir Gao earlier tweeted, “Chinese #PLA has abducted Sh Miram Taron, 17 years of Zido vill. yesterday 18th Jan 2022 from inside Indian territory, Lungta Jor area (China built 3-4 kms road inside India in 2018) under Siyungla area (Bishing village) of Upper Siang dist, Arunachal Pradesh.”

Gao said that his friend managed to escape and reported the same to the authorities. He requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, and the Indian Army to ensure the early release of the abducted Indian boy.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu told media persons in Itanagar. “The Defence Ministry through the diplomatic channel took up the matter.I am optimistic that the youth would be released and return to his village soon.”

In September 2020, China's People's Liberation Army had kidnapped five boys from Arunachal Pradesh's Upper Subansiri district and released them after about a week.

Arunachal Pradesh shares a 1,080-km border with China, 520 kms with Myanmar and 217 kms with Bhutan.
