Minor girl 'gangraped' in Uttarakhand roadways bus in Dehradun

Dehradun: A minor girl was allegedly gangraped in an Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus in Dehradun last Monday night after she 'ran away from home and was trying to make her way to Punjab'. The state police have arrested five accused including three drivers, a conductor and a cashier at the bus stand after they were identified by the minor.

Police officials said that the bus in which the crime took place has been seized and vital evidence has been gathered. The incident came to light after the minor was found in a disoriented state at the ISBT bus terminal in Dehradun.

Initially, the teenager did not disclose the circumstances but after rounds of counselling, it was revealed that she was raped by multiple men inside a stationary bus. The girl was trying to make her way to Punjab from Moradabad when she was deceived by a bus conductor identified only as Devendra, who took her to Dehradun.


"During interrogation, accused Devendra said that the victim met him at Delhi Kashmiri Gate station and was seeking information from him about the bus going to Punjab. The accused brought the minor girl to Dehradun telling her that he would accompany her to Dehradun and send her to Punjab," police officials said.

However, once the bus reached Dehradun and all the other passengers departed, the accused along with other bus drivers at the station raped the girl.
