An 8-year-old girl from Faridabad's Sirohi village tragically died on Monday after being attacked with a cement pipe by three men following an argument between two groups of children, reported TOI.

The girl, identified as Nazeez, was critically injured in the head and succumbed to her injuries while being treated at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

The incident occurred around 6 pm on January 23 when Nazeez and her brother Oberan were playing outside their home.

Police reports accessed by TOI indicate that a spat broke out between the siblings and children from a neighbouring family.

The other children then went home and returned with their uncles—Wajid, Sharukh, and Roben—armed with a six-foot-long cement pipe, noted the TOI report. The uncles attacked Nazeez, hitting her on the head. According to the girl's father, Sakir, Sharukh also slammed his daughter to the floor.

Sakir rushed to the scene after hearing his son’s cries. Upon his arrival, the accused fled the area.

Murder case filed, suspects on the run

Sakir, who works in the construction industry, immediately took his daughter to Alfala Hospital before transferring her to Safdarjung Hospital.

Despite undergoing treatment, Nazeez’s condition deteriorated, and she passed away from the head injury.

Police have registered a murder case based on Sakir's complaint, under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common enmity) of the BNS Act, against the three suspects: Wajid, Sharukh, and Roben. The suspects are currently on the run, TOI further reported.

Possible mistaken identity

Inspector Rajbir Singh suggested that the attackers may have mistaken Nazeez for Sakir’s older son because she was wearing boyish clothing at the time of the assault.

The police are continuing their investigation, with plans to further clarify the motive once the suspects are apprehended.

Sub-inspector Tejvir confirmed that the girl’s body was handed over to her family after a postmortem examination on Tuesday. However, details of the postmortem report are awaited, TOI further said.
