Militant group NSCN (K-YA) serves Rs 20 lakh extortion notice to Oil India in Arunachal Pradesh
Militant group NSCN (K-YA) has issued a Rs 20 lakh extortion demand to Oil India Limited (OIL) at their site in Manabhum, Arunachal Pradesh. Signed by a self-styled Major, the note demands payment by December 10, warning of consequences for delays.

The note signed by self-styled Major Tha Aung, and was served at OIL’s office in Manabhum, located in the
Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The outfit has sought Rs 20 Lakhs within December 10. It has warned that OIL will be held accountable for any delays.
OIL spokesperson Prankush M Buzarbaruah confirmed the receipt of the extortion notice. Talking to ET, he said, “We have received an extortion notice from NSCN (K-YA). We have taken it seriously. We have beefed up our security at the site in response to the situation. We have taken up with the Arunachal Pradesh government the issue.”
He added, “Operations at the establishment are continuing.”
Around 40 personnel from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and 22 Special Task Force (STF) personnel,
provided by the Arunachal government are securing the premises. An additional deployment of 10 STF personnel is expected shortly.
