Samples of 34 people (of the family that came from South Africa and the people they came in contact with) were sent for genome sequencing and nine were found to be positive for Omicron, said the health department. The remaining 25 people tested negative.
The symptoms displayed by those infected by the Omicron variant in Rajasthan are mild, according to the doctors at Sawai Man Singh Medical College.

Nine cases of Omicron were reported from Rajasthan's Jaipur on Sunday.


"All nine patients are stable. While some of them are asymptomatic, others have mild symptoms. They do not have complications and are on the path of recovery," Dr Sudhir Bhandari, principal and controller of SMS medical college told TOI.
