MHA moves SC over facilities for CISF

In an applicationbefore the Supreme Court, the MHA argued that due to the long distance between the accommodation place and the RG Kar Hospital, the security personnel have been facing difficulties in ensuring efficient administration and prompt mobility during contingencies.
The MHA has sought for the initiation of contempt proceedings against West Bengal officials in violation of the orders of August 20 and 22 in the event of failure to cooperate with the needs of the CISF troops.
Last month, the Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at the RG Kar Hospital and College. On August 20, the SC had ordered deployment of the CISF personnel at the hospital to ensure the safety of the resident doctors.
According to the MHA, the troops are presently staying at CISF Unit SMP, Kolkata, which is one hour away from the hospital.
The MHA's application further states that it had on September 2 requested the West Bengal chief secretary for providing the required logistics and security gadgets.
