They said their was a "huge gap" between the proposal of the MHA and the proposal of the representatives of Apex Body Leh and Kargil Democratic Alliance, who are fighting for the constitutional safeguards of Ladakh. The next meeting is now scheduled on October 22 in New Delhi.
"MHA presented a draft but there was a huge gap between their draft and our draft. We will respond to their draft and they will also prepare their draft. Our main aim is Article 371(K) and legislature. We don't want any dilution on that. We hope that government will fulfill its promises," said Cherring Dorjay Lakruk of ABL.
The KDA member Asgar Karbalai said that they were dissatisfied with the "MHA's proposal" as it doesn't match with the aspirations of the people of Ladakh. "We want our constitutional guarantees, legislative, executive and financial powers," said Karbalai.
Prominent climate activist Sonam Wangchuk said that there was a "stark contrast between our proposal and proposal of MHA."
"They have said that they will revise the draft and we hope that will shorten this huge current gap," said Wangchuk.
