MHA examining IILP proposal in Meghalaya: CM Conrad K Sangma

There is demand in the state to implement ILP. On a Question of MLA T Sawkmie, the chief minister said that the government has sent multiple reminders to the MHA regarding implementation of ILP and the State Government is perusing the matter.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) is examining the proposal of implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the State.

There is demand in the state to implement ILP. On a Question of MLA T Sawkmie, the chief minister said that the government has sent multiple reminders to the MHA regarding implementation of ILP and the State Government is perusing the matter.

He added that during the Union home minister’s visit to the state in 2021 a memorandum was also submitted by the government.


Thr state assembly has passed a resolution earlier for implementation bof ILP. Sangma said that state Government is perusing and hoped that a logical conclusion is reached regarding the issue.

Sawkmie suggested that the chief minister must go along with all 60 MLAs to meet the prime minister and Union home minister in New Delhi and urge them for implementation of ILP system.
