Four leading non-governmental organisations have lost their Foreign Contribution Registration Act (FCRA) licences after a detailed scrutiny by the Union home ministry (MHA).

The NGOs include Delhi Association Of The Deaf, SSN Trust, Sarthi-Nehru Kala Kunj and Cinedarbaar welfare society. Officials said the licenses of these NGOs were deemed to have ceased and they can no longer receive foreign grants after April 24, 2023. SSN Trust FCRA license expired on April 28, 2023, making it ineligible to receive or utilise any foreign grants available with it, they added.

The Delhi Association of the Deaf is a 50-year-old NGO working for the upliftment of deaf and dumb people in the national capital. The NGO also provides all facilities and infrastructure for sports and games for deaf people.

SSN Trust works in the field of education and charity whereas Cinedarbaar welfare foundation works in the field of cinema, with its registered office in Greater Kailash. The MHA grants FCRA licence for a period of five years to NGOs for receiving foreign grants while following rules and guidelines under the FCRA Act.
