Sources in the know of the matter said on Wednesday that the account was erroneously flagged by Meta's automated moderation systems and was restored once the mistake came to light.
Earlier in the day, Das had claimed on social media that his WhatsApp account had been blocked and sought an explanation from the messaging platform.

"My WhatsApp account has been blocked! Can @WhatsApp tell me why and on whose direction it did so?!" Das said in a post on X.Hours later, Das said his account had been restored.
The development comes amid heightened tensions between the youth-led organisation and authorities following weeks of protests in the national capital.
Separately on Wednesday, CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka alleged that the party had been informed a "conspiracy case" was being prepared against its leaders and claimed they could face arrest under the National Security Act (NSA) or the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
"We knew this would eventually happen, but we have no fear. Us being jailed is a very small cost to pay for waking up an entire generation," Ranka said in a post on X.

CJP ends 'dharna' outside Delhi Police HQ
The party later called off the protest after, according to Das, all those detained were released.Delhi Police, however, rejected the party's allegations, saying no person was under detention and urging people not to circulate unverified information.
"Claims circulating on social media regarding persons being detained and denied access to lawyers are misleading and incorrect. It is clarified that no person is currently under detention. You are advised not to share or circulate unverified content," Delhi Police said in a statement on X.
