Mumbai Police have taken into custody a man who issued a threat about a terrorist attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aircraft on February 11.

"In a call received at the Mumbai Police Control Room, the caller warned that terrorists might target PM Modi’s aircraft as he was departing for an official visit abroad. Given the seriousness of the threat, the police immediately alerted other security agencies and launched an investigation," Mumbai Police stated, as per news agency ANI.

Following an investigation, police traced and arrested the caller from the Chembur area. Authorities later confirmed that the individual is mentally ill.

Prime Minister Modi left the national capital on Monday for a four-day trip to France and the United States.

Modi co-chaired the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Tuesday. Later, he visited Marseille and paid tribute to freedom fighter V.D. Savarkar, who once attempted a daring escape at the city’s port.

In a late-night post (IST 4:18 AM) on X, Modi wrote, “President Macron and I reached Marseille a short while ago. This visit will witness important programs aimed at further strengthening India-France ties. The Indian consulate being inaugurated will deepen people-to-people connections. I will also pay homage to Indian soldiers martyred in the First and Second World Wars.”
