Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma chairs meet on casinos, online gaming

The GoM was constituted by the ministry of finance to study the GST rates for casinos, race courses and online gaming. It will take into account the existing legal provisions and court orders on related matters.

Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who is also the convener of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on casinos, race course and online gaming, said the members have been able to move forward to a large extent on issues related to GST rates, valuation on which the rate should be applied, and certain issues of online gaming were discussed in detail

The GoM was constituted by the ministry of finance to study the GST rates for casinos, race courses and online gaming. It will take into account the existing legal provisions and court orders on related matters.

The meeting was held in New Delhi on Monday. The next meeting will take place in the second week of May. Sangma said, "We have been able to move forward to a large extent on issues related to rates, valuation on which the rate should be applied and certain issues of online gaming were discussed in detail. Few more technical aspects need to be discussed."
