Meet Abbas, the man who found a mention in PM Modi’s blogpost

Celebrating his mother Heeraba’s 100th birthday and recollecting some of his childhood memories, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 18 posted about his old friend Abbas, who spent his childhood at the PM’s house.

Reminiscing his childhood, the PM wrote, "After the untimely death of my father's close friend who stayed in a nearby village, my father brought his friend's son, Abbas (Ramsada), to our home. He stayed with us and completed his studies. Mother was as affectionate and caring towards Abbas as she was towards all of us siblings. Every year on Eid, she prepared his favourite dishes."

Ramsada’s background

Abbas completed his education in Gujarat while staying with Modi and his family. However, he left the place after completing his Matriculation. PM Modi’s brother Pankaj and Ramsada were classmates and got into government jobs, in different departments, the same year. Abbas worked in the civil supplies department.

Ramsada currently resides in Australia with his son.

The childhood memories
Ramsada was invited to live with the PM’s family by the latter’s father, Damodardas Modi after the former lost his father. Damodardas and Miyanbhai Ramsada (Abbas Ramsada’s father) were close friends.

With the passage of time, (Abbas) Ramsada’s bond and affection towards the Modi family strengthened. Their bond became so strong that even today one can find Modi and his family’s mention in a book written by Ramsada.

In addition to that, the PM, then the CM of Gujarat, also met Ramsada and spent a good amount of time recollecting all their childhood memories.
