Rajasthan blue drum murder
In a Meerut-like drum murder case, Rajasthan Police in Khairthal-Tijara district near Alwar have found the body of a man stuffed inside a blue drum on the rooftop of a house, with his wife, three children, and the landlord’s son reported missing, a PTI report stated. The deceased was identified as Hansram alias Suraj, a native of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. He had been living in Adarsh Colony of Kishangarhbas with his family for the past one-and-a-half months, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Nirwan said on Sunday.

Throat injury and salt over body

The body carried a throat injury caused by a sharp weapon. It was discovered after neighbours complained of a foul smell.

"Salt had been put over the body to speed up decomposition," Nirwan said.

Family and landlord’s son missing

Police said Hansram worked at a brick kiln and lived in a rented rooftop room. His wife Sunita, their three children, and the landlord’s son Jitendra have been missing since Saturday.

"The deceased was addicted to liquor and often drank with Jitendra. Since Saturday evening, both Jitendra and Hansram's family have been untraceable," the DSP added.

The body was sent for postmortem, and a case has been registered. Police have launched a search for the missing persons.

A similar case in Meerut

In a similar case in March , police in Meerut found the dismembered body of Saurabh Rajput inside a sealed, cement-filled drum at his house in Brahmpuri locality.

Rajput, 35, had returned from London and was living with his wife Muskan Rastogi and their daughter. Police said Muskan, along with her lover Sahil Shukla, allegedly drugged and murdered him on March 4. They later went on a trip to Himachal Pradesh.

During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime. Muskan allegedly sedated her husband’s food, after which Sahil stabbed him with a butcher’s knife and slit his throat. They cut off his hands and sealed the body in a drum filled with cement and sand.

The crime came to light when Muskan’s mother informed police about her daughter’s confession. Despite efforts, the drum could not be opened at the scene due to hardened cement and was later cut open at the mortuary.

Police filed a chargesheet of over 1,000 pages against the two earlier this month. Muskan was later found pregnant during a routine medical examination.
