The Union health ministry on Tuesday said media reports claiming admission of "multiple side-effects of Covid-19 vaccines" by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) officials are ill-informed and erroneous.

Citing an RTI (Right to Information Act) response, the news report had claimed that ICMR and CDSCO officials have admitted to side-effects of Covid-19 vaccines.

"It (the news report) states that ICMR and CDSCO officials have cited a plethora of ramifications arising out of all the Covid vaccines," health ministry said in a statement. "It is clarified that the news report is ill-informed and provides erroneous information."

In line with the ministry's policy of proactive disclosure aligned with global scientific evidence in the public domain, ICMR provides responses to questions under the RTI Act related to advantages and disadvantages of Covid-19 vaccines.
