MEA calls India's evacuation mission from Afghanistan named 'Operation Devi Shakti'
Thousands are crowding the Kabul airport for a week now in an attempt to flee the country. India has been stepping up its efforts to evacuate its citizens as hostilities are rising.

So far, 800 people have been airlifted as the situation worsens each day. Thousands are crowding the Kabul airport for a week now in an attempt to flee the country. India has been stepping up its efforts to evacuate its citizens as hostilities are rising.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 17 directed the Cabinet Committee on Security to ensure evacuation of all Indians from Afghanistan. India will also provide refuge to Afghan Sikhs and Hindus who are seeking safe haven.
