Master of supernatural themes, Tamil writer Indira Soundararajan dies

Soundararajan’s works often explored supernatural and mystical themes, showcased in well-loved series and novels such as Marmadesam, Iraiyuthir Kaadu, and Thangakkadu. He also received a Tamil Nadu state award for his novel En Peyar Ranganayaki.
As per PTI, publisher G Asokan, who released Soundararajan's popular Rudra Veenai, shared that the author reportedly fell in his bathroom on Sunday. He was later declared dead at a hospital in Madurai. Rudra Veenai remains among Soundararajan's bestselling works.
In addition to his novels and short stories, Soundararajan contributed to Tamil cinema as a screenwriter, and was known for his engaging talks on spirituality. His film credits include Sringaram (2007), an art film, and Anandhapurathu Veedu (2010), a horror mystery.
The author, known for his affection toward his family, prefixed his mother’s name, Indira, to his own as a tribute.
