In a bid to pressure the Maharashtra government, Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil has announced that he would stop drinking water from Monday. Jarange Patil is on an indefinite hunger strike in Mumbai's Azad Maidan for the last three days, seeking inclusion of the Maratha community into the OBC category so that they could get reservation benefits in government jobs and education.

"Since the government is not listening to our demands, I will stop drinking water from tomorrow (Monday). I was drinking water but now I am going to stop. I will not leave Mumbai till we get a reservation," said Jarange Patil.

Meanwhile NCP-SP Supriya Sule met Jarange Patil on Sunday and later demanded that the government resolve the issue. Some shouted slogans against her father and NCP leader Sharad Pawar and even a plastic bottle was thrown on her car as it left the venue.
