Manipur Violence: Two minors killed in bomb blast, curfew imposed
Guwahati: In a fresh incident of violence in Manipur on Tuesday, at least two minors were killed and their mother sustained injuries in a bomb attack by suspected militants in Bishnupur district. Later, at least two persons were killed and 20 others injured in firing by security forces after protesters stormed a CRPF camp, the police said.

Following the incident, protesters blocked roads and set three goods-laden trucks moving to Churachandpur district on fire, escalating tensions in the region. Security forces' vehicles were set on fire. An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Kakching.

According to a police official in Imphal, a powerful bomb was fired by suspected militants and exploded at a residence in Moirang Tronglaobi village at around 1 am. The blast killed a five-year-old boy and a five-month-old girl on the spot. The children's mother, who was also inside the house at the time of the explosion, suffered injuries. All three were reportedly asleep when the bomb struck, causing significant damage to parts of the house.

Chief minister Y Khemchand Singh said the government has decided to hand over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Moirang Tronglaobi is located near the mountainous Churachandpur district.

The situation in Bishnupur and other districts remained tense. The Manipur government suspended internet and mobile data services, including broadband, for three days across five Imphal valley districts.

According to a notification issued by commissioner-cum-secretary (home) N Ashok Kumar, the decision was taken in view of the prevailing law and order situation. Khemchand Singh chaired a high-level security meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Imphal to review the situation. He also chaired an all-party meeting.
