Led by the BJP president of Jiribam Mandal, the group submitted their resignation letters expressing deep concern over the current political and social climate in the region.
The Governor has constituted an Inquiry Committee to study the cause of the incident and the circumstances leading to it. The Committee has to submit its findings within 30 days.
There was also a protest at the Manipur university with students burning the effigies of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and chief minister N Biren Singh.
Protestors were seen putting posters of the lockdown at the offices of the Chief Electoral Officer, Directorate of Economics and Statistics and the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development.
Chief minister N Biren Singh held a meeting with MLAs and ministers at Imphal following the deteriorating law and order situation.
There has been temporary suspension of internet and mobile data service in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur is extended till November 20.
RSS Condemns Killing of Women And Children
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday strongly condemned the inhuman, brutal and merciless acts of killing of women and children, after keeping them in captivity for days and asked the Central as well as state governments to "sincerely" resolve the ongoing conflict at the earliest.
The RSS's Manipur unit said it was unfortunate that the 19-month-old violence in Manipur has remained unresolved.
A police official in Imphal said that a youth, identified as K Athouba, was killed in firing on Sunday night. Police are investigating the perpetrators of this shooting.
The police official said the mob was attacking and vandalising properties of various leaders and political party offices in Jiribam on Sunday night.
