The unrest began following the discovery of six decomposed bodies, reportedly linked to a shootout in Jiribam, where 10 Kuki militants were killed. Civil society groups, led by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), issued a strong ultimatum to both the state and central governments.“All the MLAs and other leaders must sit together to take decisive action to resolve the present crisis at the earliest,” said Khuraijam Athouba, COCOMI spokesperson. He further warned, “If they do not take any decisive action that satisfies the people, the government will bear the brunt of the people's discontent and anger.”
Central Forces Deployed
In response to the escalating violence, the Centre has dispatched senior officials from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to the state.
