Manipur Ultras use Starlink? Musk: This is false... satellite beams turned off over India

Guwahati: A dish and router, believed to be of Starlink, was recovered by security forces in Manipur, although Starlink is not available in India. Starlink is owned by billionaire Elon Musk's company SpaceX. He has stated on social media that Starlink doesn't operate in India.

Musk said, "This is false. Starlink satellite beams are turned off over India and were never on in the first place".

Security forces made the recovery during a combing operation in Imphal East district's Keirao Khunou village. The device has been handed over to the Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for forensics analysis.


On December 16, Spear Corps of Indian Army said it had carried out joint operations in the hill and valley regions in the districts of Churachandpur, Chandel, Imphal East and Kagpokpi along with the state police. During the operations "29 weapons consisting of snipers, automatic weapons, rifles, pistols, country-made mortars, single barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition and war-like stores" were recovered. The unit also shared a picture of a white device with Starlink's label on it as one of the recovered items. It had the inscriptions RPF/PLA written on it.

Manipur's Valley-based militant outfit Peoples' Liberation Army is generally known as PLA, and its political wing is known as the Revolutionary Peoples' Front (RPF).

A senior police officer said, "The 20 metres of FTP cables is being examined."
