State is coordinating with Union home ministry and strict action will be taken against those responsible: Chief minister Khemchand Singh
Guwahati: Protesters defying curfew orders across five valley districts of Manipur held rallies on Thursday against the mortar attack earlier in the week that killed two children in Bishnupur district.

At the rally site in Keisampat, the CRPF's Rapid Action Force (RAF) displayed warning banners, declaring the gathering unlawful and directing immediate dispersal.

However, the rallies at Malom and Kwakeithel remained peaceful.

The protest at Keisampat was organised by valley-based civil society group Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (CoCoMI).

Th. Komdombi, representing five major civil society organisations, said, "We represent five major civil society organisations and we are not satisfied with the actions taken by the government regarding the Tronglaobi incident. Two children were killed in the rocket attack and we are demanding accountability and stronger action."

Chief minister Y Khemchand Singh said on X that he chaired a meeting with representatives of Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup (BAAL) at the secretariat on Thursday. "A memorandum was submitted and its key concerns were discussed in detail," wrote Singh.
