Manipur: Prohibitory orders imposed in Jiribam after protests over killing of man
Tension rises in Jiribam, Manipur after the beheading of Soibam Saratkumar. The incident occurred in the Jairolpokpi area, bordering Tamenglong District.

The District Magistrate has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144. Krishna Kumar, the district magistrate of Jiribam, announced the order in response to unlawful activities by anti-social elements that could lead to widespread unrest, breaches of peace, and imminent danger to life and property.
At least 220 people have been killed, 1,500 injured and 60,000 displaced since violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki-Zomi communities on May 3 last year.
The riots began after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised in the hill districts to protest the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
