Guwahati: Several police vehicles were damaged in Manipur when a mob attacked a police convoy late on Wednesday night. The incident took place in Longja village in Chandel district.

"Windshields of several vehicles were broken," a senior police officer said, requesting anonymity. "Even the vehicle of the additional superintendent of Chandel was severely damaged." No injuries were reported.

The officer, quoting reports from Chandel, said a number of people, mostly women belonging to the Kuki community, blocked the road, preventing the convoy from moving ahead. Kuki organisations accuse the police of bias towards the Meiteis.
