Manipur govt begins biometric data-capturing of illegal immigrants

Manipur on Saturday started capturing the biometrics of illegal immigrants who entered the state after fleeing Myanmar due to the unrest there. CM N Biren Singh had said infiltrators from Myanmar and militants are behind the ongoing unrest in the state, and it was not an enmity between the two communities. A government source said the exercise was being carried out at the Foreigners' Detention Centre at Sajiwa in Imphal East from Saturday morning.
