Manipur government has come up with an electronic Inner Line permit (ILP) facility.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh virtually launched e-ILP (Inner Line Permit) platform / counters at Imphal, Jiribam and Mao.

According to the state government under the portal, a person from outside the State can apply online for Inner Line Permit by logging in and get the permit from issuing centres at Imphal Airport, Mao Gate, Jiribam Railway Station and Jiribam ILP Exit Counter after proper onsite verification. The online portal is developed by Cubeten Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Singh said that the Inner Line Permit System was enforced in the State, considering its less population, to protect the identity of its people. Stating that the e-ILP tracking system had been developed to mend the loopholes in the procedures adopted to issue the permit and its tracking system, he added that the system would help in checking whether a person, who had entered the State with permit, had left or was still staying even after the expiration of permit duration.

The Chief Minister further stated that concerned authorities, at many instances, had found visitors staying beyond their permit duration without renewing it. The new system would enable mobile tracking of defaulters and taking necessary action, he added.

He also informed that an Inner Line Permit Monitoring Cell with DIG (Intelligence) as Chairman had been set up to ensure proper reading of entry and exit and to track over stay.
