Guwahati: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh handed over financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh each for medical treatment to 26 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing at the Lamboikhongnangkhong Relief Camp, Imphal who are suffering from chronic diseases such as kidney ailments, cancer etc.

Singh gave the financial assistance while attending a programme on the distribution of medical assistance to seriously ill IDPs at the Manipur trade Expo Centre Relief Camp, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West.

The Chief Minister stated that the government is providing financial assistance to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to enable them to find some relief during the difficult times. Special financial support is being provided to IDPs suffering from chronic diseases.

He further stated that today’s disbursement of financial assistance is not the end of the Government's support to IDPs and assured that every possible assistance will be extended to IDPs suffering from chronic diseases in future.

He stressed that the decision to extend financial assistance was taken with the belief that it would help ease the hardships faced by the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), who are already enduring the pain of being unable to return to their homes.

Singh said it is unfortunate that people are unable to live in their own homes.
