Manipur: '10 militants dead' IGP IK Muivah updates on fierce encounter b/w security forces, militants
Imphal (Manipur) November 12 (ANI): In Manipur's Jiribham district, a fierce encounter broke out yesterday between security forces and armed militants, resulting in the deaths of 10 militants. The clash began at 2:30 pm when militants attacked the Borobekra Police Station and a nearby CRPF camp in Jakuradhor, using RPGs, INSAS, and AK rifles. After a 45-minute exchange of fire, security forces found 10 militants dead and two elderly individuals burnt to death. Unfortunately, three women and three minors are still missing, and police are working to locate them.On 10 armed militants killed in Manipur yesterday, IGP (AP-OPS) of Manipur Police, IK Muivah said, "Yesterday, In Jiribham, around 2.30 pm, there was an attack by armed miscreants at Borobekra Police Station and the CRPF camp located nearby at Jakuradhor. The armed militants were using RPGs, INSAS, and AK rifles. After CRPF was attacked, they retaliated to the attack. After 45 minutes, when the firing stopped, we found that around 10 militants were found dead and two old persons were found burnt to death. 3 women and 3 minors were missing. Now the police are trying to trace the missing persons. It is an unfortunate thing that happened yesterday. We always caution CRPF to fire, but when attacked retaliation is part of the mandate. We have launched an FIRe. Reinforcement compromising of Assam Rifles, CRPF, and Civil Police has gone there. We are doing combing operations. A case has been registered in this incident...."
