Family members rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead after an hour. According to a senior police officer, Kaushik worked as a property dealer. He was also one of the founding members of the "Jai Shri Ramlila" committee, established in 1977.
Rahul Kaushik, a relative, mentioned that Sushil had been performing as Raja Ram since 1987 and was involved in singing. During the scene of Sita's ‘swayamvar', Kaushik experienced sudden chest pain. “He felt a sudden chest pain and went backstage, where he collapsed,” Rahul said.
Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj speculated that the death might be related to the COVID-19 vaccine, stating, "It is a common discussion that after the COVID-19 vaccine, such cases are continuously appearing in India, where young people are dying of heart attacks while walking."
A video of the incident has been widely shared on social media, showing Sushil performing before heading backstage.
