LATUR: A protest was held at the civic headquarters in Maharashtra's Latur city on Thursday after a man died following an attack by stray dogs, an official said.

Vilas Borve (22) was mauled by stray dogs a few days ago at the local fish market, and he died while undergoing treatment in a hospital, the official added.

His kin as well as residents of the area brought his body to Latur Municipal Corporation office and shouted slogans against the administration, accusing it of not doing anything to control the rise in number of stray dogs in most localities of the city.

After the gates of the civic corporation complex were locked, protesters tried to break locks with stones, a police official said, adding that cops have been deployed to maintain law and order.
