Medininagar (Jharkhand): A 30-year-old man allegedly killed his wife with an axe under the influence of alcohol in Jharkhand's Palamu district, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred at Mahuari village in Naudiha Bazar police station area on Wednesday night following an argument with his wife, identified as Itwariya Bhuiyan, they said.

The accused, identified as Basant Bhuiyan, has been arrested, Naudiha Bazar police station in-charge Amit Kumar Dwivedi said.

"The couple frequently fought over the husband's drinking habit. This issue led to a heated exchange of words on Wednesday night. The husband killed his wife with an axe in a fit of rage. The weapon used in the murder has been seized," he said.
