Man arrested for trying to enter Mamata Banerjee's home with arms in car

In a security breach, a person who impersonated as a police personnel, and tried to enter the residential area of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the day of mega rally in Kolkata, was arrested on Friday with firearms, dagger, knife and drugs. The fake police personnel was travelling in a police vehicle and carrying multiple agency ID cards including BSF. After arrest, he has been taken to Kalighat police station and was interrogated.

Sheikh Noor Amin, the alleged accused was dressed as Kolkata Police Official and his vehicle also bore "police" nameplate. He is a resident of South Kolkata's Anandapur.

"A person named Noor Amin who was carrying various agency ID cards, has been arrested. He had fire arms, knife, a dagger, several ID cards and ganja with him. He said that he intended to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It is a serious issue. Our Special Branch and local police station are examining him. We are trying find out his purpose," Commissioner of Kolkata Police Vineet Goyel said. "Multiple agency identity cards were found from him, including BSF. Our people nabbed him while he was trying to enter CM's residential area."


Amin, who was on board a black SUV, was arrested by Kolkata Police near West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's residence on Harish Chatterjee Street. This man was arrested ahead of Mamata Banerjee's mega rally, "Ekushe July" in Kolkata.

It is learnt that Amin ran an interior designing business.

Reacting to the incident, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said, "When police is engaged in vote loot and other issues, they become non-functional in their actual work. I demanded suspension of Kolkata Police Commissioner and IC-Kalighat."
