Man arrested for raping 5-year-old girl in Sultanpur

A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man from her village here on Friday, police said. The accused has been arrested, they said.

SHO Satendra Kumar Singh said the incident occurred when the girl went toward a garden while playing outside her house. Chauhan lured the girl and took her to a field where he raped her.

Meanwhile, her parents searched for her when she did not return home. They found her lying in a field, unconscious and bleeding, Singh said.


They rushed her to a hospital where the medical examination confirmed rape, he said.

She was then referred to another hospital for better treatment, he added.

Based on the victim's father's complaint, the police have registered a case of rape and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and have arrested Chauhan, the SHO said.

He was produced in the court from where he was sent to jail, the SHO added.
