She also urged the PM to intervene in bringing back persecuted Indians from Bangladesh. Banerjee, while speaking in the assembly, offered refuge to the affected Bangladeshis in West Bengal if the Centre approved. The CM's remarks will be sent to the PM as a written proposal.
Condemning the "torture" on Hindus, Banerjee called on PM Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar to make statements in Parliament, addressing the issue in the neighbouring country. She expressed concern about persecuted Indians on the foreign soil and spoke about her eagerness to rehabilitate them.
79 fishermen in B'desh jail
The CM also expressed her concern over 79 fishermen entering Bangladesh waters by mistake. "We have tracked them through a newly-floated app. They have been detained by Bangladesh police and will be taken to jail. The Indian government has been informed but they have not been released yet," she noted.
