Makar Sankranti 2026: From Sangam Snan to Mahakaleshwar Darshan, Faith Unites India

Makar Sankranti 2026 witnessed massive footfall across major pilgrimage centres. Over 85 lakh devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, marking the second major snan of the Magh Mela.Large crowds were also seen at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ganga ghats in Varanasi, Saryu Ghat in Ayodhya, Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, and Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur. Devotees observed the festival with ritual bathing, temple darshan, charity, and prayers to the Sun God.
