Maharashtra Public Service Commission postpones State Services Main Exam 2026 amid review demands

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the State Services Main Examination 2026 scheduled to begin on October 3, amid demands for a review of the examination process, PTI reported.

The postponement comes amid growing demands from MPSC aspirants and political groups for reforms in the commission and changes to the examination process. The MPSC Drug Inspector exam paper leak had earlier triggered protests, with aspirants and political groups demanding the resignation of MPSC chairman Vivek Bhimanwar and the commission's secretary.

Aspirants had also accused the commission of procedural lapses in conducting examinations. Bhimanwar, however, had rejected demands for his resignation, stating that the Drug Inspector exam paper leak occurred before he took office.


The issue was raised last week by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Dipke, who demanded reforms in the MPSC and Bhimanwar's resignation over allegations of corruption. During an interaction with MPSC aspirants in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on September 20, Dipke also criticised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and urged aspirants to raise their concerns.

Dipke said that if a paper leak happens, the chairperson should not remain in place, while calling for greater accountability in the commission. The CJP convenor also flagged unemployment among youths in Maharashtra and urged MPSC aspirants to fight for their rights.
