Maharashtra, Odisha, and Kerala battle severe heatwave conditions; Here's what IMD has predicted for the next five days

Maharashtra's Rising Temperatures
The Colaba observatory in south Mumbai recorded a temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. The Santacruz observatory in the suburbs recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius, an increase of 4.4 degrees from the normal. Neighbouring Thane recorded a maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius.
Odisha's Sweltering Conditions
In Odisha, as many as 27 places recorded a maximum temperature of above 40 degrees Celsius, with 12 places witnessing a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius or above. Bhubaneswar city recorded a day temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 43 degrees Celsius at Bhawanipatna.
Kerala Braces for Heatwave
The IMD has warned of a heatwave in certain areas of Kollam, Palakkad, and Thrissur districts in Kerala, with temperatures expected to be several degrees above normal. These districts are expected to experience hot and humid weather conditions from April 28th to May 2nd.
The IMD has also warned of heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over East and South Peninsular India. Heatwave conditions have been prevailing over Odisha since mid-April and over Gangetic West Bengal since April 17. In Kerala, heatwave conditions are likely to occur in one or two locations within Kollam, Palakkad, and Thrissur districts specifically on April 28th and 29th.
Authorities have advised people to take precautionary measures, especially between 11 am and 3 pm, when temperatures are at their peak, and to stay hydrated to avoid heat-related illnesses.
