Maharashtra logs 2,946 new COVID cases, two deaths; active tally at 16,370
In a major cause of concern, out of the 16,370 active cases, Mumbai circle alone registered 10,889 infections. The city has seen 19,573 fatalities due to coronavirus so far.

Meanwhile, 1,432 patients also recovered from the coronavirus on Sunday, taking the tally of recoveries to 77,46,337. Currently, the recovery rate in the state stands at 97.92%. The case fatality rate in the state is 1.86 %.

Thane is the second-worst hit city in Maharashtra with 2,805 active cases, followed by 1,128 in Pune, 530 in Raigad, and 446 in Palghar.
A total of 42,922 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the number of samples conducted so far in the state to 8,13,21,768, the bulletin said.
On Saturday, the state had recorded 2,922 COVID-19 cases and one fatality.
