Details regarding the composition and terms of reference of the committee are yet to be finalised, they told PTI.
"The committee to draft the legislation for the Uniform Civil Code is in process and will be set up within two weeks," an official said.
Incidentally, Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam had last week informed the assembly that UCC will be implemented in Maharashtra and a committee under a retired High Court judge would be constituted to prepare the draft of the legislation.
The Uniform Civil Code is a constitutional directive aimed at establishing a common set of laws governing marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption etc. for all citizens.
