Maharashtra government staff to begin indefinite strike for old pension scheme
Around 18 lakh Maharashtra government employees will begin an indefinite strike from Monday midnight after talks with the state government on reintroducing the old pension scheme failed. The Maharashtra State Government Employees Federation has said the strike will continue till the state agreed to reintroduce OPS.

“The talks have failed and so we are going on an indefinite strike from midnight; 18 lakh employees, including government and semi government employees, hospital staff and sanitation workers would take part in the strike,” said Vishwas Katkar of the Rajya Sarkari Karmachari Madhyavarti Sanghatana, an umbrella body of state government employee unions.
Katkar and other union representatives held a meeting with CM Eknath Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to resolve the issue. But talks broke down as representatives wanted the state government to accept their demand.
