Maharashtra clears Rs 5.47 crore expenditure for IT projects and services

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has sanctioned a cumulative expenditure of Rs 5.47 crore for maintaining various IT projects and services covering cybersecurity audits and consultancy services.

The Project Implementation Committee had taken decisions on proposals at its meeting on July 24, following which the Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Department issued an order on Wednesday.

The cumulative approved expenditure is Rs 5,47,03,880, with the largest amount of Rs 3,16,30,745 for expenses incurred by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) through the State Setu Society. The amount includes taxes.

The government also approved Rs 81,00,000 for a cybersecurity audit of ten key Maharashtra government digital portals by the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Security Corporation (MCCSC). The amount comprises an initial audit cost of Rs 51,00,000 and quarterly maintenance charges of Rs 2,50,000 for three years, excluding tax.

An expenditure of Rs 54,07,500 was also approved for conducting a cybersecurity audit of the MahaSarathi portal by MCCSC.

The government approved Rs 42,35,000, excluding tax, for extending the services of a senior consultant engaged at the Chief Secretary's Office. The extension relates to the provision of one principal consultant, and the expenditure will be met from the 2026-27 budgetary provision under the Directorate of Information Technology.

Another Rs 22 lakh, excluding tax, was approved for engaging consultancy manpower for the Chief Minister's Secretariat for 11 months from June 1, 2026, according to the order.

The committee also approved Rs 16,78,000, excluding tax, for the services of two consultants engaged through Deloitte for the Maharashtra State DR SDC.

The lowest approved amount, Rs 14,52,635 excluding tax, relates to preparing a comprehensive report and action plan for the proposed establishment of a separate Science and Technology Department in the state. The committee selected the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) for the work after evaluating technical and financial proposals.

The expenditure for the approved proposals will be met from the relevant 2026-27 budgetary provisions under the Directorate of Information Technology's budget.

The government authorised the Commissionerate of Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence to take necessary action to implement the proposals subject to applicable rules and conditions.
