Maharashtra government alleges discrimination in vaccine supply

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday said that Maharashtra in spite of having more Covid cases was getting fewer vaccines.

“We want to vaccinate six lakh people daily, so we are demanding 40 lakh doses per week so this 17 lakh is not going to be enough,” claimed Tope.
The Maharashtra government on Thursday accused the Centre of discriminating against ‘Maharashtra’ when it came to supplying vaccines to the state and questioned why the state was being given less doses as compared to other states. Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday said that Maharashtra in spite of having more Covid cases was getting fewer vaccines. “We want to vaccinate six lakh people daily, so we are demanding 40 lakh doses per week so this 17 lakh is not going to be enough,” claimed Tope. “Whereas Uttar Pradesh is getting 48 lakh, Madhya Pradesh 40 lakh, Gujarat 30 lakh, Haryana 24 lakh,” said the health minister.
