Madhya Pradesh: Private hospital catches massive fire in Jabalpur

At least nine to ten people were killed in a massive fire at a private hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur on Monday, the official said.

Several fire tenders were rushed to the New Life Multispeciality Hospital which eventually managed to bring the blaze under control. Many people including patients and hospital staff were inside the building when the fire broke out.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh , Sivraj Singh Chouhan, announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the nearest kin of the deceased.

"In this hour of grief, the bereaved family should not consider themselves alone, I and the entire Madhya Pradesh are with the family", CM tweeted.

The fire was erupted at New Life Multi-speciality Hospital near Damoh Naka under the Gohalpur police station area of Jabalpur in the afternoon, Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Bahuguna was quoted telling news agency PTI. It appears an electrical short circuit caused the blaze, he added.
