Experts investigating the Ludhiana court blast site have reportedly found evidence of 'high-grade explosives'. The NSG bomb squad and forensic experts analysing the evidence at the site say that the perpetrator may have accidentally set off the explosive while assembling it.

Evidence at this point suggests that the bomb was being assembled in the washroom of the court complex, with police discovering aluminium and plastic shrapnels in the body of the deceased.

Reports from multiple outlets are identifying the man as Gagandeep Singh, a 30 year-old former Punjab Police head constable, who was removed from his post in 2019 after being accused of alleged drug smuggling.

“It appears to be a high grade explosive,” an official told Times of India while not ruling out the presence of RDX.

Investigators have also recovered a mobile phone from the blast site, which was used to pinpoint Singh's identity. Other people have been spotted on CCTV, whose roles - if any - officials are currently investigating.

One person was killed and six were injured in the blast that took place in the afternoon on December 23.
